Ego Pharmaceuticals has been selected to feature in the upcoming publication Monarchy and Democracy: A History of Leadership. The project, produced by the History of Parliament in partnership with St James’s House, marks 100 years of royal and parliamentary history, specifically highlighting organisations that exemplify innovation and excellence within the Commonwealth.

Founded in 1953 by Gerald and Rae Oppenheim, Ego has grown from its beginnings in a suburban Melbourne laundry to a multinational success story, now employing 700 people across 13 countries, including a significant presence in the UK. The book features a dedicated profile of Ego's journey, including the development of the iconic QV Skincare range for the Queen Victoria Hospital, and the company’s role as a global specialist in skin health.

"As a family-owned Australian company rooted in scientific rigour, we are honoured to be featured in Monarchy and Democracy: A History of Leadership. This project parallels our own journey of growth, from our heritage in Melbourne, Australia, to our established presence in the UK and across 13 countries globally. It is a wonderful platform to highlight how our commitment to transforming lives through the science of healthy skin contributes to the broader narrative of innovation and leadership within the Commonwealth," said Alan Oppenheim AM, Ego Pharmaceuticals' Managing Director.

Monarchy and Democracy: A History of Leadership explores the evolving roles of the Crown and Parliament over the past century, alongside the commercial and social progress of the organisations invited to participate. Dr Jennifer Davey, Director at the History of Parliament Trust, noted that organisations like Ego were selected based on their relevance to the themes of leadership, innovation, sustainability, and governance.

The landmark book will be launched on 9 June 2026 at the historic Westminster Abbey in London. The event will also incorporate the London Press Club Summer Garden Party, celebrating the life and contribution of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Stephen van der Merwe, Group Director at SJH Group, says: "Through spotlighting their work, Monarchy and Democracy provides a compelling perspective on how today’s organisational leaders, such as Ego Pharmaceuticals, are shaping the future of enterprise and industry".
