When treating a head lice infestation, is it necessary to wash the bed linen every day?
In order to survive, head lice need to feed on human blood every 3 to 6 hours. Without feeding, head lice will dehydrate and die, and those found in bedding are either dead, sick or elderly. It is unusual for head lice to let go of their grip of the hair shaft unless they are sickly or dying. For this reason, daily laundering of the bedding is unnecessary.
