On Thursday the 15th of October at the 2020 Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) Excellence Gala, Ego’s very own Samantha Franklin was awarded the AMI Future Leader of the Year. The award promotes the critical role future leaders will play in advancing individuals and organisations and recognises excellence in leadership qualities.
Sam was one of four finalists from across the country, taking out the top gong at the virtual awards ceremony hosted by MC Shane Jacobson.
The process included submitting a paper on "What do you see as the hallmarks of a good leader", illustrating her own leadership qualities, providing her point of view on marketing trends for the next 5 years and an interview by a panel of experts from the AMI.
Sam’s essay detailed the three traits of great leaders, being individually motivating, bravery and honesty and how they are also three qualities that marketers should endeavour to build on over the next five years to help drive success for their brands.
In relation to honesty, Sam noted, ‘Consistent and unwavering honesty helps to build trust, and this is a critical component that can be found in any great leader. Not all situations are easy for leaders, whether they are managers or not. However, undeniable honesty, be that as feedback or taking accountability for failures, helps to build trust with those around them.’
The AMI is the requisite organisation for professional marketers and the awards are recognised industry wide.
Huge congratulations Sam, well deserved!
