Ego is delighted to announce the establishment of a dedicated UK headquarters, welcoming 16 new employees to the global Ego family.
Located in Knutsford in Cheshire, in the heart of Britain’s Northern Powerhouse, our UK office now employs a team of specialist sales and marketing professionals led by UK Country Manager, David Halliday.
The announcement follows more than 20 years supplying pharmacy favourite sunscreen, SunSense and sensitive skincare range, QV, to the UK and signals a marked increase in our commitment to the country.
We will now seek to roll out our wider product portfolio including brands such as our market-leading hand sanitiser range, Aqium, targeting pharmacies, retailers such as Waitrose and John Lewis and e-commerce sites such as Amazon. Our products are also available in the UK on prescription through the NHS.
The newly-launched UK operation has been warmly received by both the Australian and UK governments at a critical time as free trade agreement negotiations commence between the two countries. Senator the Hon. Simon Birmingham, Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment hailed it as ‘a wonderful example’ of Australia-UK inward investment.
Locally, Cheshire East Council has also supported the move with our two organisations collaborating on a Memorandum of Understanding that will underpin our UK growth in the coming years.
Alan Oppenheim, Managing Director, Ego Pharmaceuticals, commented: “This announcement signals a renewed and substantial investment in the UK and represents a strong, positive step forward for trade relations between Australia and the UK. Our two countries share a number of great attributes and the UK has long been one of our strongest global markets, boasting a rapid growth trajectory. The time has now come for us to establish our own domain here and we are proud to blaze a trail for intercountry relations as negotiations for the Free Trade Agreement commence.
It is against a challenging backdrop that we make our commitment, with Brexit and the coronavirus outbreak prompting economic uncertainty and a drop in consumer confidence. However, we are resolute in our goal to improve lives through the science of healthy skin and we are forecasting a rapidly growing sales forecast in the first five years.
We will soon be introducing more of our science-led products and targeting wider retail channels from our new home in the Northern Powerhouse region of the UK. I am supremely confident that our team of highly skilled and experienced sales professionals and marketers, led by our UK Country Manager, will enable us to harness opportunities for growth and underpin our strategic expansion plans across the world.”
David Halliday, UK Country Manager, Ego Pharmaceuticals, added: “This latest development will put us in a position to really drive Ego in the UK, in turn helping countless people. Ego has so many innovative dermatological products and we can't wait to share them with UK consumers".
