Ego Pitches in for Clean Up Australia DayMarch 8, 2016
Braeside family owned business, turned international success story Ego Pharmaceuticals, pitched in to take part in Clean Up Australia Day, collecting a team of volunteer staff to help clean up the local wetlands area.
Every year the Clean Up Australia Day event encourages and inspires thousands of Australians to take to their local park, beach, bushland and streets to help make a difference to their local environment, by picking up rubbish in a collective effort to keep their local community clean.
With support from the local council, The City of Kingston, 20 Ego staff members representing a range of departments volunteered to take part in the initiative at the nearby Epsom Estate Wetlands.
Ego’s Managing Director Alan Oppenheim explained that it was an important part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to give back to their local community.
“Many of our staff live in the local area and Clean Up Australia Day is an important community initiative, so we’re very pleased to be involved” said Mr Oppenheim.
The team collected over 7 bags of rubbish within an hour, returning the wetlands to pristine condition.
Of Ego’s initiative, The City of Kingston’s Mayor Tamsin Bearsley said “it’s great to see our local companies taking on these initiatives to help clean up their shared community area”.
The clean up team were supplied with Ego’s SunSense Ultra SPF 50+ and Aqium Antibacterial Hand Sanitiser to help care for their skin during the clean up effort.
