Big Growth Ahead for Victorian Family Pharmaceutical CompanyOctober 14, 2015
Ego’s New Global Headquarters commences building in Dandenong South with a sod turning ceremony this morning by the Victorian Minister for Industry which will create 200 new jobs by 2017.
Australia’s largest locally-owned pharmaceutical company specialising in dermatology, Ego Pharmaceuticals, has commenced construction of its new Global Headquarters in Melbourne as part of a $135 million expansion plan for the Victorian business.
Ego’s Managing Director Alan Oppenheim and Scientific and Operations Director Jane Oppenheim were joined by The Hon Lily D’Ambrosio MP, Victorian Minister for Industry and The Hon Luke Donnellan Victorian Minister for Roads and Minister for Ports to turn the first soil on the land this morning.
Talking proudly of the investment in the company’s future Mr Oppenheim explained the innovative development will enable the company to continue to develop and grow.
“This development will enable us to grow exponentially and continue to drive our manufacturing and export business, it secures the future of Ego in Victoria to continue to grow and innovate as industry leaders to meet the needs of our consumers” said Mr Oppenheim.
Ms D’Ambrosio explained that the development helps to cement Victoria’s position as a leading centre for pharmaceutical manufacturing and ensures the company’s products continue to be manufactured in Melbourne for the Australian and global market.
“This $135 million project will create 200 new jobs and help grow the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry in Victoria” said Ms D’Ambrosio.
The $35 million first stage of the development takes up just a quarter of Ego’s 9.5 hectares of land at the Logis Estate in Dandenong South, which will consist of a 3 storey office and distribution centre.
The second stage will consist of manufacturing facilities and is estimated to cost over $100 million – this is part of a 30+ year expansion plan for the company.
Demand from export markets is helping to drive the company’s growth with 34 per cent of product going overseas to 25 nations with Ego’s biggest growth coming from Asia and the Middle East
